14. Fear Of The Lord Means Guarding The Heart

Proverbs 4:23 — “Watch over your heart with all diligence.”

Psalm 86:11 — “Unite my heart to fear Your name.”

Matthew 15:19 — “For out of the heart come evil thoughts…”

The fear of the Lord watches over the inner life carefully. Reverence understands that sin begins in the heart long before it appears in actions. A believer who fears God takes spiritual condition seriously.

Jesus continually dealt with the heart because transformation begins inwardly. Holy fear keeps us spiritually alert and honest before God.

    • Reverence makes the believer spiritually watchful.
    • The heart determines the direction of life.
    • Fear of God strengthens discernment.

    What this means:
    • Hidden sin eventually bears fruit.
    • God desires inward purity.
    • Spiritual vigilance is necessary.
    • Reverence protects the soul.

    Daily walk:
    • Examine your thoughts honestly.
    • Bring sinful attitudes quickly to God.
    • Fill your heart with Scripture daily.
