Warning About Losing The Fear Of The Lord: Judas Loved Sin More Than Christ

28. Warning About Losing The Fear Of The Lord: Judas Loved Sin More Than Christ

Matthew 26:15 — “What are you willing to give me to betray Him?”

John 12:6 — “He was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it.”

Judas walked with Jesus, heard His teaching, saw His miracles, and witnessed His compassion, yet never surrendered his heart. The fear of the Lord never governed his life. Hidden sin was tolerated, greed was protected, and eventually Christ was exchanged for silver. The tragedy of Judas is not merely betrayal; it is proximity without surrender. A man can be near Christ outwardly while remaining far from Him inwardly.

The fear of the Lord continually exposes hidden idols. When reverence disappears, cherished sins remain untouched. Judas teaches us that no amount of religious activity can replace genuine devotion to Jesus.

    • Hidden sin grows when not confronted.
    • Outward religion cannot save the soul.
    • Greed reveals misplaced worship.

What this does in the life of a Christ follower:

    • Warns against secret compromise.
    • Encourages heart examination.
    • Increases dependence upon Christ.

    How to avoid this:

    • Confess hidden sins honestly.
    • Keep Christ greater than possessions.
    • Invite God to search your heart regularly.

    Prayer:

Lord Jesus, keep me from loving anything more than You. Expose every hidden idol and every secret compromise. Let my heart belong wholly to You so that I follow You not merely with my lips but with my entire life. Amen.
