September 14: Let Your Speech Be with Grace

Scripture:
“Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”
— Colossians 4:6 (NKJV)

Points:

  1. Our words reflect our hearts and our witness.
  2. Grace-filled speech shows Christ’s love to others.
  3. “Seasoned with salt” means our words have wisdom, clarity, and care.
  4. Thoughtful words open hearts — harsh ones close them.
  5. Speaking with grace is a mark of spiritual maturity.

Poem: Words That Bless

My words can build or break apart.
They can restore or leave a scar.
But you have called me to speak life—
To season every phrase with care.
To offer grace in what I say.

A careless word may burn for years.
A gentle one can heal a soul.
So teach my tongue to wait and weigh.
To speak with wisdom, not with haste.
To bless, not boast, in every tone.

Your Word is filled with mercy deep.
Let that be what my mouth repeats.
Let every answer hold your truth.
Let every silence guard my pride.
Let every speech bring peace, not heat.

When others speak with bitter tones,
Let me reply with light and calm.
When pressured, let me not lash out.
When hurt, let kindness shape my voice.
When lost for words, let grace speak loud.

So teach me, Lord, to speak like You.
To answer with a careful love.
To carry truth in gentle strength.
To honor You with every word.
To make my speech a sign of Christ.

Prayer:
Lord, let my words today be filled with grace and wisdom. Guard my tongue from harm, and let everything I say point to Your love and truth. Amen.
