Today's Good News

May 27           Psalm 34:18

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

Four Points:

  1. God Is Present in Pain – He is not far off; He is close when we are most wounded.
  2. He Knows Our Sorrows – God’s nearness is not passive; He feels and understands our suffering.
  3. Salvation for the Crushed – God rescues not just the physically weak but the spiritually weary.
  4. Comfort Is a Promise – His nearness brings healing and hope, not just sympathy.

Near to the Broken
I cried alone and could not speak,
My bones were cold, my spirit weak.
But even there, God came and stayed,
He saw my heart and gently prayed.
His love reached in and touched my pain.

When breath was short and hope ran dry,
He caught my tears and heard my cry.
He sat with me in silence deep,
And held my soul where shadows sleep.
He did not rush or look away.

He spoke no words, yet peace was near,
And slowly broke the weight of fear.
He gathered all I thought I lost,
And stood with me beneath the cross.
His nearness changed the bitter night.

So now I know, when hearts are torn,
He draws us close, not with scorn.
He saves the weak, the shamed, the low,
He binds the wounds no one can know.
He walks with us through broken ground.
