Today's Good News

JANUARY 9 – FOLLOW

01/09               Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

FOLLOW

When we trust in the Lord and our heart is committed to Him, He will show us the right way to walk.  The key is trust in Him.  We don’t know what tomorrow holds but we do know Him who holds tomorrow.  Jesus is the Lord and He loves us.

01/10               Psalm 90:12

12 Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.

TODAY

We only have today. Right now is when we live.  Help us Lord to value today and rejoice therein. We are not promised tomorrow, help us Lord to know how brief our life truly is.  Jesus is Lord.

01/11               2 Corinthians 5:17

17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

FIRST

Our first love is Jesus.  We begin with Him.  We grow with Him.  We will go to Him when we die.  Remember as you journey through life, if you are following anything or anybody other than Jesus you need to go back to Jesus.  He is life and light for living.

01/12               Psalm 20:1-2

1 In times of trouble, may the LORD answer your cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm. 2 May he send you help from his sanctuary and strengthen you from Jerusalem.

SAFE

We are safe in Christ. Cry out to Him when things are overwhelming or just plain bad.  He will answer you and guide you through the difficulty.  He will never leave you.  Jesus is there.

01/13               1 Chronicles 16:11-13

11 Search for the LORD and for his strength; continually seek him.  12 Remember the wonders he has performed, his miracles, and the rulings he has given, 13 you children of his servant Israel, you descendants of Jacob, his chosen ones.

SEEK

We are to be on a journey of seeking.  We seek to grow.  We seek to mature.  We seek to be the right kind of person.  We seek to be more like Jesus.  He will be with you and never forsake you.  Jesus is busy building you into His likeness.  Jesus is Lord.  He will never leave you.

01/14               Habakkuk 1:5

5 The LORD replied, “Look around at the nations; look and be amazed! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it.

ISRAEL

Israel has returned to its land and is a nation/state again after 2,000 years.  What the Lord prophesied has been done.  It would be very hard to believe that the Jewish people would return to their Biblical land and rebuild what was a deserted desert into a land of milk and honey.  Listen to the Lord as He instructs you.

01/15               Isaiah 40:31

31 But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

LIFE

Life is hard and often brutal.  Jesus doesn’t save us from difficulties, instead he saves us in our regular daily life, warts and all.  Life is for living and Jesus gives us life for living and wisdom to know how to deal with our life.  Don’t let evil overrun you, let Jesus fight your battles and equip you to live.

01/16               Ephesians 4:21-24

21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.  24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

PUT-ON

Put-on your new nature.  That simply means that we choose how we will live.  As His children we are no longer in bondage to sin but are in fact equipped to step away from sin and live a Christ like life if we choose to do so. We are called to change.  Set aside our old ways and put on the ways of Christ. Live a Christ like life and things will work in and thru you to move you daily becoming more and more like Jesus.

01/17               Hebrews 13:5

5 Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

TRUST

Forget about it. You don’t have to worry about what you will have or even what you need.  Let the Lord meet your needs daily.  Let Jesus equip you for Godly living.  If you are like me I always worry about having what I need-it is an area of difficulty for me to simply trust the Lord to provide my daily needs. But He commits that very promise to us- He will meet our every need.  Trust the Lord for He is indeed worthy of all of our trust.

01/18               Deuteronomy 31:8

8 Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

FEARLESS

You and I are permitted to lead fearless lives.  Yes, if we focus on the Lord and trust Him for the day we will develop a fearless lifestyle.  What can anyone do to me?  I am saved by grace and held by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  He is my Sovereign and Lord and I trust and follow Him.

01/19               Deuteronomy 31:6

6 So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

STRONG

We can be strong in Jesus.  He gives us His strength.  He is here. He will be here.  He will never leave us.  He is greater than anything-He is Lord.  Our strength is in a trustworthy Lord and Savior-Jesus.

01/20               Joshua 1:7

7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.

BE AND DO

When we focus our life and heart on Jesus we will be successful in all we do.  Those things we do will be that which the Lord has called us to do.  The key is to love one another.  Note that it doesn’t say we are to love the lovely-it says love one another.  Christ died for each one of us from the best to the worst.  When he calls us he doesn’t require that we go away and come back when we are better.  He calls us to come to Him and He will give us the rest, strength, wisdom and actions that will create a life like His.
