August 13: Do Not Be Anxious About Tomorrow

Scripture:
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
— Matthew 6:34 (NKJV)

Points:

  1. Jesus teaches us to stay in today’s grace, not tomorrow’s guesswork.
  2. Worrying about the future wastes the strength given for the present.
  3. Each day has enough challenge — and enough help from God.
  4. Anxiety grows when we borrow trouble from days that haven’t come.
  5. Trust grows when we take life moment by moment with Jesus.

Poem: One Day at a Time

Tomorrow speaks with louder words.
It paints the worst in bolder tones.
But you invite me to today.
You meet me here, not in my fears.
You hold the time I cannot touch.

The hours ahead may bring their weight.
The plans may break, the path may twist.
But here, this moment, you are near.
You give me peace for what is now.
You walk me through this very breath.

The worry does not add a thing.
It does not fix the yet unseen.
It only steals the joy of now.
It takes what you have freely given—
The grace that fits today alone.

You call me not to hoard or guess.
You teach me trust with every step.
I do not know the end just yet.
But I know you are good and close.
And that’s enough for this small day.

Today I let tomorrow go.
I live the day you gave to me.
You will be there when morning breaks.
But here and now, I look to you.
And find the peace that walks with me.

Prayer:
Lord, I give You tomorrow. Help me live with peace in today. You know what I need, and You will be with me every step. I trust You with the future and rest in You right now. Amen.
