16. Fear Of The Lord Means Speaking Carefully

Ecclesiastes 5:2 — “Do not be hasty in word…”

Proverbs 10:19 — “When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable.”

James 1:19 — “Everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger.”

The fear of the Lord changes the tongue. Reverence teaches us that words matter because God hears every one of them. A careless tongue reveals a careless heart.

Jesus spoke with truth, purity, wisdom, and grace. Holy fear teaches believers to speak in ways that honor Him.

    • Reverence produces careful speech.
    • Words reveal the condition of the heart.
    • Fear of God restrains sinful conversation.

    What this means:
    • God hears every word we speak.
    • Careless speech damages lives.
    • Wisdom often speaks less.
    • Reverence creates gracious communication.

    Daily walk:
    • Pray before difficult conversations.
    • Refuse gossip and careless criticism.
    • Speak words that honor Christ.
