Blessing Of The Fear Of The Lord: Intimacy With God

16. Blessing Of The Fear Of The Lord: Intimacy With God

Psalm 25:14 — “The secret of the LORD is for those who fear Him.”

James 4:8 — “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”

The fear of the Lord produces nearness to God. Reverence awakens the soul to the greatness of God and creates a hunger for fellowship with Him. Many believers seek God’s blessings, but those who fear Him seek God Himself. Holy fear strips away shallow religion and draws us into deeper communion with Christ. The fear of the Lord is not the dread of a criminal before a judge; it is the reverent awe of a redeemed sinner standing before a holy Savior. Jesus lived in constant fellowship with the Father, and those who fear God increasingly desire that same intimacy.

    • Reverence deepens communion with God.
    • Fear of the Lord removes spiritual casualness.
    • Intimacy with Christ becomes precious.

What this does in the life of a Christ follower:

    • Creates a desire for God rather than merely His gifts.
    • Produces consistency in prayer and worship.
    • Makes Christ the center of daily life.

    How to develop this:

    • Spend time daily alone with Christ.
    • Read Scripture seeking God, not merely information.
    • Worship with reverence and gratitude.

    Prayer:

Lord Jesus, draw me near to Yourself. Deliver me from shallow religion and casual devotion. Teach me to fear You in a way that deepens my love and fellowship with You. Let Your presence become my greatest treasure and Your voice my greatest delight. Amen.
