For indeed you practice it toward all the brothers and sisters who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers and sisters, to excel still more. (1 Thessalonians 4:10)
Love is never finished. Even when believers live it well, Paul says, “excel still more.” Jesus is the reason we keep pressing forward. He loved to the uttermost, and His love has no ceiling. Our call is not to settle into adequacy but to overflow with His abundance.
The Thessalonians’ love reached beyond their city; it touched Macedonia. Love that exalts Jesus does not stop at familiar borders. The more we love, the more He is seen. The call of Christ is not to plateau but to increase until every corner knows the fragrance of His love.
- Jesus never stops loving; therefore, His people never stop growing in love.
- Love proves authentic when it crosses boundaries.
- To excel in love is to reflect the inexhaustible Christ.
- A complacent love is a contradiction to the cross.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, You call us to more. We confess our tendency to settle for enough. Stir us out of mediocrity and move us into overflow. Teach us to see others not as interruptions but as opportunities to show Christ. Let our love spread farther than we think possible.
Holy Spirit, expand our hearts until no neighbor, no stranger, no enemy is left untouched. Break down walls of pride and prejudice. Make our lives a testimony that Jesus Christ is alive and reigning in us.
Poem — “Still More”
Love never says enough.
Christ presses us higher.
Grace keeps pouring.
The Spirit keeps teaching.
Hearts keep opening.
Boundaries fall under His reign.
Walls turn to doors.
Strangers become family.
Enemies become neighbors.
The cross keeps reaching.
Jesus is the measure.
Jesus is the motive.
Jesus is the model.
Jesus is the strength.
Jesus is the goal.
