01/25 – A New Purpose

Philippians 3:13–14 (NASB)
“Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Devotional Thought:
New beginnings demand letting go of the past. Gratitude presses forward, knowing Christ’s call is worth it.

Three Comments:

  1. Gratitude forgets what is behind.
  2. The upward call of Christ is our goal.
  3. Gratitude runs with perseverance toward the prize.

Poem – “Pressing On”
The past was gone,
The goal ahead,
The call was high,
The prize was sure,
The race was on.

The steps were steady,
The heart was strong,
The hope alive,
The faith enduring,
The joy secure.

Gratitude presses forward,
Faith reaches ahead,
Hope runs with strength,
Peace rests in His call,
Joy finishes well.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You that I can forget what lies behind and reach forward to what lies ahead. Thank You that Christ is my prize.
Help me to live with gratitude for this new purpose. May I press on daily in the upward call of God.
