12/22 – The Light of the World

John 8:12 (NASB)
“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.’”

Devotional Thought:
The Child of Bethlehem grew to declare Himself the Light of the world. Gratitude remembers that the One born in darkness now lights our path forever.

Three Comments:

  1. Gratitude celebrates that Christ drives away darkness.
  2. Following Him means walking in light, not fear.
  3. Gratitude rests in the promise of the Light of life.

Poem – “The Light Has Come”
The night could not hold Him,
The darkness could not win,
The Light of the world was born,
The hope of all men,
The Savior of life.

He shines on weary paths,
He drives away the fear,
He leads His people home,
He guides the lost in love,
He gives them life.

Gratitude walks in His light,
Faith rests in His way,
Hope shines in His presence,
Peace grows in His truth,
Joy sings His name.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You that You are the Light of the world. Thank You that those who follow You never walk in darkness.
Teach me to walk in Your light daily. May gratitude keep me from fear and lead me into the joy of Your presence.
