12/17 – The Flight to Egypt

Matthew 2:13 (NASB)
“Now when they had gone, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, ‘Get up, take the Child and His mother, and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to kill Him.’”

Devotional Thought:
The Savior’s life began under threat, yet God protected Him through Joseph’s obedience. Gratitude grows when we see that God’s hand guards His plan.

Three Comments:

  1. Gratitude remembers that God protects what He purposes.
  2. Joseph’s obedience reminds us that faith responds without delay.
  3. Gratitude trusts God’s providence even in flight.

Poem – “The Road to Egypt”
The night carried urgency,
The angel’s voice was clear,
Rise and take the Child,
The threat was near,
But God was nearer.

Steps fell on foreign soil,
The journey was long,
But the plan was safe,
The promise secure,
The Savior preserved.

Gratitude trusts the journey,
Faith follows the word,
Hope rests in His care,
Peace knows His presence,
God protects His plan.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You that You protected Jesus even in His infancy. Thank You that Joseph’s obedience kept the Child safe in Egypt.
Help me to trust Your direction when the road is uncertain. May gratitude guide my steps, knowing You guard all You promise.
