12/19 – Raised in Nazareth

Matthew 2:23 (NASB)
“…and came and settled in a city called Nazareth. This happened so that what was spoken through the prophets would be fulfilled: ‘He will be called a Nazarene.’”

Devotional Thought:
Nazareth was ordinary, even despised. Yet it was the place God chose for His Son to grow. Gratitude sees that God often hides greatness in obscurity.

Three Comments:

  1. Gratitude trusts God’s choice of hidden places.
  2. The Nazarene bore our rejection to bring us acceptance.
  3. Gratitude sees God’s plan unfolding even in obscurity.

Poem – “The Nazarene”
The town was common and plain,
Despised by the proud,
Yet chosen by God,
To raise His Son,
To fulfill His word.

Obscurity hid His greatness,
Humility shaped His days,
The Child grew in wisdom,
The Savior waited in silence,
The plan moved forward.

Gratitude honors the hidden,
Faith treasures the small,
Hope trusts the unseen,
Love rejoices in God’s plan,
Christ is enough.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You that You chose Nazareth for Jesus to grow. Thank You that greatness can be hidden in ordinary places.
Teach me to treasure the unseen seasons of life. May gratitude guide me when Your work is quiet but sure.
