Matthew 2:19–20 (NASB)
“Now when Herod had died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, and said, ‘Get up, take the Child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel; for those who sought the Child’s life are dead.’”
Devotional Thought:
The same God who sent Joseph to Egypt brought him back again. Gratitude remembers that God not only protects but also restores. His plan unfolds in perfect timing.
Three Comments:
- Gratitude trusts that God both sends and brings back.
- His providence governs the timing of every step.
- Gratitude rejoices in restoration after trial.
Poem – “The Return”
The road that led away,
Now leads back home,
The danger has ended,
The threat has passed,
The promise remains.
God’s hand guided each step,
His word directed the way,
Egypt was a refuge,
Israel the return,
The Child is safe.
Gratitude rests in His timing,
Faith trusts His plan,
Hope rejoices in return,
Peace follows His lead,
God restores His own.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You that You not only protect but restore. Thank You that Joseph returned with Mary and Jesus at Your command.
Help me to trust Your timing in all things. May gratitude steady me when I wait and rejoice in You when You restore.
