Luke 2:10–11 (NASB)
“And so the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.’”
Devotional Thought:
The gospel was first preached not in a palace but in a field. To shepherds in the night came good news of great joy: Christ the Lord was born. Gratitude swells because this Savior is “for you.”
Three Comments:
- Gratitude rejoices that the gospel is for all people, including the lowly.
- The birth of Christ is not just news but good news—joyful and saving.
- Gratitude hears the words “for you” and bows in worship.
Poem – “Good News for All”
The night was ordinary,
The field was still and dark,
But heaven broke the silence,
Joy filled the earth,
Good news was declared.
Not for the strong alone,
Not for the noble or proud,
But for the shepherds in fields,
For the poor and the weak,
For all people everywhere.
Gratitude hears the gospel,
Joy receives the gift,
Faith bows before the Savior,
Hope rests in the Lord,
Christ is born for us.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the good news announced to shepherds. Thank You that the Savior was born not just for some but for all, including me.
Teach me to live in gratitude that Your salvation is personal and universal. May my life echo the angel’s message: Christ the Lord is born.
