11. Fear Of The Lord Means Trusting God’s Discipline

Hebrews 12:6 — “For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines.”

Proverbs 3:11-12 — “Do not reject the discipline of the LORD… for whom the LORD loves He reproves.”

Revelation 3:19 — “Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline.”

The fear of the Lord teaches us to receive correction instead of resisting it. A proud heart despises discipline, but a reverent heart understands that God corrects His children because He loves them. Fear of the Lord keeps us from hardening our hearts when conviction comes.

Jesus receives us as sons and daughters, but He refuses to leave us unchanged. Divine discipline is not rejection; it is evidence that we belong to Him.

    • Discipline is proof of God’s fatherly care.
    • Reverence softens the heart toward correction.
    • Fear of God keeps believers teachable.

    What this means:
    • God cares too much to leave us in sin.
    • Correction is part of spiritual maturity.
    • Conviction is a mercy from God.
    • Reverence produces humility.

    Daily walk:
    • Respond quickly to conviction.
    • Welcome biblical correction.
    • Ask God to reveal hidden sin.
