04/18 LOVE YOUR ENEMIES

“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44)
Self-denial reaches its height in love for enemies. The flesh rejects this command, but grace empowers it. Loving enemies reflects the heart of Jesus, who loved us when we opposed Him. This love displays the transforming power of the cross.

  • Enemy-love reveals Christ’s nature.
  • Forgiveness frees the disciple’s heart.
  • Prayer transforms hostility into compassion.

Poem – The Hard Love
Teach me to love
where hurt remains,
to pray where anger
once lived.

Your love reaches
even my enemies,
calling me to walk
as You walked.

Let grace reshape
what bitterness framed,
forming mercy
where hate once stood.

Prayer
Lord, help me love my enemies. Replace bitterness with compassion and anger with prayer. Let Christ’s love flow through me to those who oppose me.
