04/07      PUT OFF THE OLD SELF

“Lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit.” (Ephesians 4:22)
The old self resists the call of the cross. It must be put away—its habits, desires, and patterns surrendered. Denying the old self prepares the heart for the newness Christ gives.

  • The old self deceives and destroys.
  • Putting it off is an act of cooperation with grace.
  • Christ clothes us in His renewing power.

Poem – Leaving the Old
I lay down the old ways,
worn and deceptive,
letting Your truth
replace their hold.

You clothe me anew,
fresh with grace,
renewed in heart
and purpose.

What I leave behind
makes room for You,
and in Your presence
I am changed.

Prayer
Lord, help me put off the old self. Expose its lies, weaken its grip, and replace it with the new person You are forming in me. Make me renewed in Christ today.
