01/29 – A New Freedom

Revelation 21:4 (NASB)
“And He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”

Devotional Thought:
The final new beginning is freedom from pain, death, and sorrow. Gratitude rejoices that Christ will end the old order forever.

Three Comments:

  1. Gratitude looks forward to a world without death.
  2. Christ Himself will wipe away our tears.
  3. Gratitude rests in the hope that sorrow will end.

Poem – “The Tears Gone”
The eyes once wet,
The tears removed,
The sorrow ended,
The pain gone,
The joy eternal.

The death defeated,
The life secured,
The hope fulfilled,
The peace complete,
The glory near.

Gratitude waits in hope,
Faith rests in His hand,
Peace holds to His word,
Love trusts His heart,
Joy looks to the day.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the promise that You will wipe away every tear and end death and sorrow. Thank You that the first things will pass away.
Help me to live with gratitude in the hope of that day. May this promise steady me through present pain and fill my heart with holy joy.
