Think On These Things
Ps. 145:18 "The Lord is close to all who call on Him." NLT . FAITH 1 Thessalonians 1:3 "As we talk to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work " NLTSome of us are wowed by those that say they have a deep faith. They are simply saying that their faith is grounded in the promise that the Father makes to us in Christ that we have a relationship, salvation, and are part of His family. This is the beginning point of Biblical faith. Our faith begins in Christ and stays with Christ. We never outgrow our need for a relationship with Jesus. When we have faith we are placing our trust and reliance on the promise of God. This well placed trust becomes an operative grace in our lives. We will never be overcome by circumstance for we will trust in the Word of God. This trust will enable me to live my life. I will develop an awareness of sin. Faith causes me to measure myself by Jesus. I will cultivate a servant life. Faith enables me to work with and for others. Faith is recognition of the active presence of the living Lord. I grow, survive, and mature firmly grounded by faith in Jesus.
Giving Acts 20:35 "Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than receive." Acts 20:35 We live under the blessings of the Lord every day. We owe Him for our salvation, our health, the breath of life and all good things that happen to us. We know that we will face pain and sorrow lives. In Christ we have a solution to the hurt and pain that we experience. God is at work providing the mercy and grace that we need to lead peaceful lives. We are guarded by his powerful love. His love creates joy in the midst of failure or success. Much of what we honor in this world is vain, trifling and worthless. It leaves us with a sense of emptiness. There are no solutions in the worlds way. And yet the simple way of Jesus brings us inner resources that survive any assault. He said that it is more beneficial for me to give than receive. In the act of giving we find real solution to the emptiness of life. When we realize that we are the agents of the Lord in interacting with our fellow man we understand the true value of giving. I am giving because I have already received. I am giving because I believe and trust the Lord. I am giving because my act of kindness to another testifies to the Lords ownership of me. When I love those around me I am expressing Gods control of my heart. The world around us is a needy place. We can find someone in need on any street in any city in the world. People in all walks of life have overwhelming needs. Gods children meet needs. We can give because we are equipped to survive. We can give because the Lord is graciously meeting our needs. We find our greatest strength when we give to others. In fact, we will find the solution to some of our toughest problems when we give. We are most like God when we give. I want to remind you that giving is not just our money, but it does include our money. When we give our money the tithe is the base. Our offerings begin after we have fulfilled the 10% requirement. Argue if you will but the Word of God is clear, tithing is required.
The Resurrection (Mt. 28:1-10) Two women discover the wonderful event of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is not the way things worked in that day. This event changed everything. The Lord announced it to two women. They were there at the Cross; there when He was laid in the tomb; and now they knew the truth. He had risen. He was alive The angel encouraged the women not to be afraid. The Lord is in control. He has done what He said He would do. The resurrection of the Lord brings joy not fear. When you are down cast and hurting, remember the empty tomb. Jesus is alive. He is alive and able to meet our needs. The charge is that we believe. We must individually make a decision about Jesus. Will we believe that He died that we might have forgiveness? Will we realize that He was raised from the dead by the power of God? Or, will we simply walk away and continue to be at the mercy of the world? Believe in the resurrected Lord Jesus. Believing in Jesus is salvation. The resurrection is proof that Jesus is King of Gods eternal Kingdom. Jesus is not a false prophet. Jesus is Lord. We have a future life as children of God. We will be with the Lord in Heaven. This same power that brought Jesus to life gives us new life in Christ. The women are urged to go and tell. Jesus is alive. He is the Son of God. Tell everyone you know about the Lord. Our testimony is what the Lord has done in our lives. He saved me. He changed me. Go and tell. Jesus instructed the women to rejoice. When we meet Christ for the first time, we will rejoice. When we are freed from bondage to sin we will tell others. We have access to the Father. We have someone in the presence of God who is ever interceding for us. Our lives are under the watch care of the Lord Jesus. Rejoicing is our natural response.
GRACE Heb. 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. KJVWe may boldly approach the Lord in prayer. We come with the assurance that Christ our elder brother is there to intercede for us. The throne of grace is a seat of royalty. This describes the ancient mercy seat that covered the Ark of the Covenant. This is the place where forgiveness is found. No longer do we depend on the blood of sheep and goats to validate our forgiveness. At this throne, the blood of Christ has validated our right to enter and the assurance of our forgiveness. The grace of God gives us what we need and cannot earn. Eph. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. KJVJesus Christ the Lord assures our approach to God. The suggestion in the text is that we come boldly into the presence of the Lord. Please note that the Word doesnt suggest that we come with ignorant presumption or pious self-confidence. It says that we have liberty of access into the throne room of the Living Lord. God is alive and we can go to Him with our needs. We have FREEDOM of SPEECH with God because He is our Father and Jesus is our elder brother. We have ASSURANCE of SUCCESS. We will get a gracious reception. We will be heard. We will find answers to meet our needs. Gods GRACE will help our FAITH grow. We have UNLIMITED ACCESS. Unlike the original Mercy Seat that could only be approached annually, we have unlimited access to the Lord. Gods grace commands that we come as we are into His presence. He is a need meeting God. We are people with great need. God is prepared to meet our needs because of His great love for us. His actions speak to our need. Jesus died that we might have forgiveness of sin. Gods wondrous grace meets us at the corner of need and despair. We are His children and are commanded to seek Him. Christ intercedes for us and prepares our entrance. Grace includes all of the blessings of God. It is God meeting our needs for body, soul, time and eternity. It is His help for us. Grace enables us to pray, to serve, to suffer, and to be victorious. God helps us in every time of need.
NOT MY JOB: I do not like to be condemned. Amos words are indeed a condemnation but they are condemning a lifestyle and not the people. The people have a chance to change. We have a chance to change. We know the defeats we experienced in the past, the issues that overwhelmed us. We can take these same defeats and issues before the Lord and seek His power and strength to change. Consistent time with Him is required. Listening to His direction is a necessity. Yielding to His will is an imperative. Without this type of change in our lives, tomorrow will be just like today. If we refuse to change, Amos has written our epitaph. My prayer for each one of us is that we will be yielded and still, sensitive to His will. God is good, ALL THE TIME. PEACE We come to Christ where we are. The Lord Jesus doesn't change the things we've done. He changes us. Sin is the great problem in our lives. The Lord forgives our sin. Christ paid the price for us to have a relationship with a holy and perfect God! Jesus gives us new hearts that will last for an eternity. We have peace with God. NEW YEAR The New Year has begun. Before you began to think about the New Year, the Lord had laid out all of the options, challenges, opportunities and changes that you would face. You and you alone have the power to choose the way that you will face this year. The Word of God will energize you every step of the way. He will enable you to survive and grow. Make Christ first in your life. That is the right choice every time.
