Rainy Days

Rainy days miles from home
Life's archives laid bare
Failures looming large as life
Making me feel frail.

Stopping thoughts that range afar
Wanting time to learn
Knowing that an hour will come
With no more days life is done.

Life is always so real
It's food and work and rest
The flesh screams loudly out to me
Do this or that and you'll be free.

I could never walk the way
My mind said I could be
And then you sent your Son to me
He cleansed my heart and set me free.

He changed my world from money's hold
Condemnation had my life
Now the past is done and gone
Real is never being alone.

Only I can train my heart
Spending time to grow
Seems I've run so hard so long
I'm nervous when I'm with God.

Faith lifts up my face
It says that Christ is here
Even when the world is gray
The Lord will care for me.
