Once
Again
Psalm 130:3-4 LORD, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive? But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you.
I’ve committed my adult life to helping the homeless. It wasn’t a noble commitment just the only place I could serve. As a result of this experience the Lord has taught me a lot about forgiveness. Not forgiveness that is capped by resultant success but forgiveness that is marked by failure. Failure that is embarrassing, painful and destructive. It is a forgiveness that over the 20 plus years has driven me to my knees. Like John I have suggested that maybe we could just rain down bolts of lightening and smoke-um. God is a forgiving God. I am glad that He is.
Once Again
Who knew that it would come to this
I really didn’t intend to do bad
Everything just tilted out of whack
Now I am stuck with a mess
Why is their so much to suffer
It only lasted a very short while
Now it is taking days to fix
Sadly the years roll by.
Seems that sin is not a friend
All the promise quickly died
But sin didn’t it stayed
Death’s hand displayed.
How in the world can I go back
Look at all I’ve done
The Lord of all came looking
Where are you my son?
If you knew what I had done
You’d not call me your son
Ah He said, but there you’re wrong
I’ve saved you from the mess.
Even though your sins been done
There’s pain and hurt for all
I died for you to cleanse your soul
I’ll never let you go.
