Evil
Insights birthed of pain and hurt
I’ve watched from battered walls.
I hear my heart pleading for rest
It’s not as far as it seems.
Wretched life, how hard it’s been
But now each day is sweet.
But beneath the gentle day
Lurk dragons buried deep.
The only one that ends the pain
Is Jesus my blessed Lord
He died that I might end my shame
Of hidden pain and evil’s reign.
On the surface we seem just the same
But raging spiritual wars
Can only stop when I proclaim
Saved in Jesus name
So often I have stood and cried
My life was just a wreck
Now I’ve felt His touch, forgiven
Ending evil’s claim
When life is blue or hard to do
I kneel and ask His care
He comes to me and stops the fight
Saved in Jesus name.
The evil one is just a mess
He claims all that he can
Evil is as evil does, he lies, and cheats and steals,
So many are enslaved by him
But Jesus is my blessed Lord
Not fooled by evil’s ploy
Come to me He gently says
Saved in Jesus name.
