Today's Good News

MAY 20 – STAND

05/20          1 Peter 3:5-6

This is how the holy women of old made themselves beautiful. They put their trust in God and accepted the authority of their husbands. 6 For instance, Sarah obeyed her husband, Abraham, and called him her master. You are her daughters when you do what is right without fear of what your husbands might do.

STAND

Stand firm on your faith in Jesus.  Do not let the theology of the day distract you from His love and strength.  The Lord is pleased when we let Him make us strong.

MAY 19 – DAILY

05/19          1 Peter 3:1-4

In the same way, you wives must accept the authority of your husbands. Then, even if some refuse to obey the Good News, your godly lives will speak to them without any words. They will be won over 2 by observing your pure and reverent lives. 3 Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. 4 You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.

DAILY

We live now.  It is important that moment by moment we are following the Lord.  Read His Word.  Let it marinate in your heart and do what the Lord says.

MAY 18 – FOLLOW

05/18          1 Peter 2:25

25 Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.

FOLLOW

Follow Jesus.  Follow Him every minute of every day.  One step at a time you follow Jesus.  He is Lord and worthy of all of your devotion and praise.

MAY 17 – HEALED

05/17          1 Peter 2:24

24 He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.

HEALED

However much your are hurting, no matter what evil is telling you Jesus has healed you.  You have a new heart and eternal life.  You are now partakers of life like God’s life. Jesus is Lord.

MAY 16 – TRUST

05/16          1 Peter 2:22-23

22 He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone. 23 He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.

TRUST

The Lord is God and He is worthy of all of our trust.  It pleases Him to make us strong.  Serve the Lord with gladness.  He loves you.

MAY 15 – NEXT

05/15          1 Peter 2:21

21For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

NEXT

Do the next right thing.  Develop habits of goodness.  Be the kind of person in your daily actions that the Lord has revealed you to be in your heart.  Jesus is Lord.

MAY 14 – GOD

05/14          1 Peter 2:18-20

18 You who are slaves must submit to your masters with all respect. Do what they tell you—not only if they are kind and reasonable, but even if they are cruel. 19 For God is pleased when, conscious of his will, you patiently endure unjust treatment.  20 Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you.

GOD

God is in control.  We are not.  Live under His direction.

MAY 13 – ORDER

05/13          1 Peter 2:17
17 Respect everyone, and love the family of believers. Fear God, and respect the king.

ORDER
The Lord has input an order into His creation.  We should live peaceful, orderly lives.  Leaders are put here to maintain law and order.  Respect those in leadership positions, pray for them and live peacefully.

MAY 12 – EVIL

05/12          1 Peter 2:15-16

15 It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you. 16 For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.

EVIL

We must take particular care in our lives that we do not fall into evil habits.  Check yourself.  It pleases God to make us strong.  Your weakness does not please God.  He will make you strong.

MAY 11 – DO

05/11          1 Peter 2:13-14

13 For the Lord’s sake, submit to all human authority—whether the king as head of state, 14 or the officials he has appointed. For the king has sent them to punish those who do wrong and to honor those who do right.

DO

We are called to do the next right thing.  Committ your life to doing that.  Yes we follow the Lord and yes we do what He says and He says that we are to be good citizens wherever we are.  Do the next right thing.
