Today's Good News-October '99
Ps. 145:18 "The Lord is close to all who call on Him." NLT 10/1/99 Psalm 19:1-2 I am a sinner saved by grace. Jesus forgave me of my sin, and saved me. Salvation enabled me to see the wondrous glories of God in our world. Once I was ignorant and dead in my trespasses and sin but now praise God I can see. In Christ we everything we need as a child of God. 10/2/99 Romans 1: 20 Pride separates man from God. Self is in the way. Only when a person humbly acknowledges that God is different and that he/she is a sinner, only then can one receive new life in Christ. All have sinned. Renouncing ones sin and asking for forgiveness from the Lord Jesus Christ is the way of reconciliation to the Father. 10/3/99 Acts 17:24-25 You do not think the way God thinks. When you respond to problems, ask the Lord if you are responding correctly. God will give you the wisdom, mercy, and grace to deal with the real life issues you face every day. Ask the Lord. He will help you. 10/4/99 Acts 17: 26- 27 Are you too busy for time with God? Get ready because it is going to be a really surprising day. Time with God prepares us for the unknown. Time with God reminds us that He is near. When we spend time with God we are outfitted for the spiritual war each one of us battle. Time with God is time well spent. 10/5/99 Acts 17: 30-31 Jesus loves you. He died that your sin might be forgiven. He defeated death and the grave and is alive today. Jesus loves you but you have to choose to accept that love. Trust Jesus today. Ask Christ to forgive you of your sin and come into your heart today. 10/6/99 John 4:24 (Simplicity) A person must be alive in Christ to worship the Lord. When we come to the Lord we are charged with the responsibility to believe that God is there. He is there. 10/7/99 Deuteronomy 6:4-5 God is unique. He is Lord of all and creator of everything. Man forgets that his claim of importance and wisdom is sin. In Christ we find our value for in Christ we become family. Before all things existed, God was. This same loving creator God made you and wants to have a relationship with you. He stepped into this world and paid the price for the forgiveness of your sin. God loves you. 10/8/99 1 Kings 8: 27 God is here with us. He resides in our hearts. He wants to have fellowship with us and be a part of all we do. Without Him all things would cease to exist. With Him in our lives we can do the things that are necessary for us to have an abundant life. In Christ the solid rock we stand. 10/09/99 Psalm 90: 1-2 God is our refuge. We may trust in money, position, career, or a noble cause. They are not secure they are passing away. Only the Lord can provide the security that we are looking for. When our supports get shaky, we can trust the Lord. When life gets tough and things get bad, we can go to Jesus for encouragement, direction and security. He is Lord of all. 10/10/99 James 1:17 God is perfect. He is not selfish or stingy. When we come to God we come to a Father who understands us and knows our needs. The Lord does not make us grovel or beg to get what we need. He invites us into His presence as dear children and encourages us to spend time with Him. 10/11/99 Psalm 139:7-12 Have you wandered away from the Lord? Has your heart grown cold? Have you forgotten how to talk about the Lord or is your witness nonexistent? Do not fear for God has not lost you. He knows exactly where you are and is waiting for you to wake up and call upon Him. He can fix the problems that you are letting destroy you. Seek the Lord and He will be found. 10/12/99 Ephesians 1:11 Is your life chaotic? Does everything seem to be loosed from their moorings? Rest in this truth, Jesus is Lord. God is in control. He has not made a mistake in forgiving you and making you His child. When you become a child of God you are within the purpose of God and nothing can take you away from God. 10/13/99 Matthew 10:29-31 Failures and fears will not separate you from God. Your journey may be much different and more difficult than you thought it would be but nothing surprises Jesus. The Father accepted you knowing all about you including the future. Gods love will not cease nor will the Holy Spirit be removed from your heart. You are His forever. PERIOD. 10/14/99 Matthew 19: 25-26 Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. This is a simple and direct Biblical injunction. If a person will a ask Jesus into their heart they will be in the Family of God. Nothing else works. Only Jesus. 10/15/99 Deuteronomy 32:3-4 The glory of God is revealed in His mercy, grace, compassion, faithfulness, forgiveness, and justice. God reveals Himself in His love. We are each a great sinner and yet the God loves us. The Lord is a glorious, wonderful and mighty God. He is constantly seeking to benefit His creation. Glory to God in the highest. 10/16/99 1 John 4:8-10 Real love is holy, and giving. Love thinks of others first. He places His children first. His concern is for our safety, peace and joy. We are never out of His thoughts. Our lives are never beyond His control. Nothing that happens in our lives surprises Him and yet still He loves you and me. God is love. 10/17/99 Psalm 33:4 God does not lie. He does not change. He knows all things. We can trust the Word of God because it comes from a trustworthy Lord. 10/18/99 Isaiah 40:13-15 Gods provision sustains the universe. The Lords presence saves us in our time of need. He is never far when we are in trouble. God is good, all the time. 10/19/99 1 John 1:5 The Lord is the only one that can guide us out of the darkness of sin. He is holy, and true. In the darkness, good and evil co-exist. In the light of the Lord, we can distinguish good from evil. We choose the Lord. We choose by His power to set aside sinful things in our lives. In Christ we have life. 10/20/99 Exodus 3:13-14 God is eternal, all-powerful and unchanging. In our world values, morals and laws are always changing. God never changes. When we turn to the great I AM we find stability and security. The Lord always knows who you are, what you need and when you need it. 10/21/99 Psalm 57:2-3 In Christ we have direct access to the Father. He hears us because we belong to Him. We each take first place in the heart of the Father. Each one of His children is loved as if he/she were the only one. God loves His children. 10/22/99 John 13:15 What we do matters. God gives us a new heart; but we are responsible for what our hands do, where our feet lead us and for the things we say. Pay attention to what you are doing. 10/23/99 Exodus 31:12-13 The Sabbath day is a day of refreshment and remembrance. We draw aside from our hectic lifestyles and rejuvenate our bodies. While we rest we are to remember the Lord. God rejoices in our praise and we grow when we recognize the multitude of things that are praise worthy about our Lord and Savior. The Sabbath day enables us to maintain balance in our quickly passing lives. 10/24/99 Genesis 22:13-14 God sent His only Son to die for us. By the death of Christ we were spared from the eternal death we deserve. Gods provision for us is always exactly what we need. The Lord is good, all the time. His goodness is beyond compare. Worthy is the Lamb. 10/25/99 Judges 6:23-24 The Lord removes strife and chaos from our lives and in its place brings harmony and joy. His presence gives us the power to live our lives with a calm assurance. When we are aware of whose we are we can live a peaceful life where we are. The lost are looking for the peace that Jesus provides. 10/26/99 Isaiah 40:28-29 The Lord is never too tired to help you. Jesus is never too busy to listen to you. God cares for you and is always available to help you. When the world is pressing in and you cannot take another step, call upon the Lord and He will renew your strength. 10/27/99 Psalm 23:1 Sheep are dependent upon the Shepherd. They need guidance, protection and food and the shepherd provides all of these things. We are like sheep. We are easily led astray. We dont know the way in which we should go. We starve for spiritual nourishment. Christ is our shepherd. He provides the real things that we need to live. In Christ we have all we need. 10/28/99 Psalm 31: 14-15 God loves and cares for us. All of lifes circumstances are in His hands. When we face numbing experiences we can be confident that God is in control. We can also be confident that the Lord always does the right thing for us. 10/29/99 Daniel 4:34-35 God will take care of you. When you go to the Lord and ask Him to do whatever it takes to make you a good child and a strong servant, remember that the Lord will act in your life. Sometimes because of our pride and self-centeredness, the Lord must act more strongly than at other times. What will it take for the Lord to get your attention? 10/30/99 Romans 8: 28 This is a hard saying when things arent going our way. The problem generally is that we dont see what God is up to. When you cannot see what God is doing you can trust His actions. Be still and know that He is Lord. 10/31/99 Philippians 1:6 God will not give up on you. He will see you through to the end. As you struggle day by day, you can live with confidence that the Lord is working in you for His good purpose. Be filled with the Spirit and do not sin.
